News from Laroussi lake

Work and fishing!, 20th Apr
Spring is here.
As Old Oaks, a lot of work has been done around Laroussi this winter:
- A few snags removed
- 300m Conifer edge cropped
- Several swims cover of wood chips
- Size of the a few pegs increase by cutting bushes and removing stumps
- Gravel track refilled
- La plage track resurfaced with over 40 tons of gravel/sand/soil
- Wooden fence rebuilt on L'Anse
- As you know, 38 new fish stocked in December
Fishing has been good so far despite the tough conditions - forties, fifites and a sixty out last week at 64lb, well done Neil Jones from the Measor party.
Already 50 carp so far.

Biggest of 2014, 20th Jan
Here's a list of the biggest fish we've seen in 2014 at Laroussi.
Despite really up and down weather last year that left a lot of lakes all over France fishing poorly, Laroussi's tally of big carp is impressive. The weights of all species show that Mehdi is continuing to do a fantastic job keeping the lake healthy and that there really must be something special in the water!
Biggest Mirror Carp - 71lb 12oz (lake record stands at 76lb)
Biggest Common Carp - 50lb 2oz
Biggest Catfish - 165lb
Biggest Sturgeon - 73lb
Biggest Ghost Common - 48lb 10oz
Biggest Ghost Mirror - 51lb
Biggest Zip Linear - 35lb 2oz
Biggest Fully Scaled - 48lb 12oz
Biggest Koi - 23lb
Biggest Tench (and also a world record) - 15lb 4oz
Biggest Crucian Carp - 6lb 3oz
Biggest Grass Carp - 50lb (lake record 52lb)

Steve Knight Back For Another Winter Session, 19th Jan
Laroussi regular Steve has spent the last two weeks braving the conditions at Laroussi and it's paying off!
In the last 9 days Steve has had 10 carp to 53lb 8oz, including a couple of the newly stocked youngsters. He also lost a carp that he suspects was easily one of the bigger residents.
Temperatures have been around 4/5 degrees in the daytime and dropping to -1/2 at night. With another 5 days to go we can't wait to see what else shows up on the bank.

Last fish of the year!, 20th Dec
Congratulations to both Steve Knight and Damien for catching the last carp of the year.
Steve landed a splendid long 43lb 10oz common while Damien had his new Pb with a 56lb mirror, both on the 20th of December. Both also caught a tench at 8lb for Steve and 4.5lb for Damien.
Well done guys!
