Saul's got it sussed!, 16th May
34 year old van driver Saul Mulvey from Worcester, here for a weeks holiday with best buds Merlin Barnes and Kaspian Askham, came with a plan to catch himself a big one. However, their trip did not get off to an auspicious start; on arrival, the heavens’ opened and hailed down great big balls of ice, and the following day, the smaller carp were seen following each other around in the margins, a sure sign of spawning. So, he pre-baited a couple of spots over the next couple of days, going back up to farmhouse to take advantage of the creature comforts there. Strategically resting the lake during the days, and the nights, deciding Wednesday, was the day to actually get his rods wet. You’ve got to be in it to win it after all!
After much casting, and re-casting, and casting again just to make sure, Saul’s 18mm Ouest Malibu boilie was eventually picked up by the 45lb stunner known as the ‘Big Common’. Saul’s laid back strategy paid off and he gets to take home a bottle of the coveted La Gléhias Lake Record Holders wine.
For the record, Saul Mulvey is the current Men’s Common Carp Lake Record Holder having banked ‘The Big Common’ at 45lb on the nose, Wednesday 16th May 2018, at 18:00.
Well done Saul! Don’t let it go to your head!

Dad Catches Up!, 9th May
Dutch entrepreneur, Pascal van der Hart, here for the week with his son Tim, has beaten the La Gléhias Lake Record Grass Carp. Having arrived Saturday afternoon, the pair were keen to get cracking and got their rods out asap. Pascal also baited up a spot that he felt would be productive for the following day, and it really paid off.
The gorgeous Grassie came out from half way down the Gorse Bank on a CC More Live System pop-up just after 3 o’clock on this sunny Sunday afternoon. At 27lb, the silver stunner is the biggest we’ve seen from Lake Lauren making it the second record breaking fish for the dynamic duo this week! Just a few hours earlier, twelve year old Tim pulled out a stonking 39lb Mirror earning him the title La Gléhias Junior Mirror Carp Lake Record Holder.
Pascal gets a personalised bottle of wine to take home with him for his trouble.
Well done Pascal, don’t let it go to your head!

Double Dutch!, 9th May
Tim van der Hart has done it again! Tim of Broklede school in Breukelen Holland, here for the week with his dad Pascal, has broken yet another lake record! This time the La Gléhias Juniors Lake Record Common has been smashed by a staggering 10lb+, just one day after snatching the Juniors Lake Record Mirror from Jack Evans!
The Big Common came in at 13:30 on a CC Moore pop-up from the same spot as the other record breaking carp, just in front of one of the lily pad islands, closest to the inlet, and weighed in at a whopping 42lb 8oz.
Tim gets to take home another personalised bottle of low alcohol Breton Cidre as a keepsake.
Well done again Tim! You really showed the big guys how it’s done!

Sunday Mirror!, 30th Apr
Twelve year old Tim van der Hart of Broklede School in Breukelen Holland, here for the week with his dad Pascal, has broken the La Gléhias Junior’s Lake Record Mirror!
The gorgeous Carp known as Blackspot came in at around midday this Sunday on a CC Moore pop-up from just in front of one of the lily pad islands, closest to the inlet, and weighed in at a rather respectable 39lb. This is a fish we normally see at around the 35lb mark but over the last winter, the greedy lump has packed on a staggering 4lb.
Tim gets to take home a personalised bottle of low alcohol Breton Cidre with a Champagne style cork as a souvenir.
Well done Tim!
