AU REVOIR 2025! HELLO 2026!, 31st Dec
Hope everyone has been having a great time of the Festive Season and are looking forward to a cracking 2026!
2025 was a great year with over 40 guests visiting us over 17 weeks. Many going home with new PB’s, and one lucky lady going home with a Lake Record and a bottle of wine to celebrate! It always makes us happy when we get to do a new wine bottle label and we were thrilled to be doing it again for the Ladies Lake Record. The record fell to the fun-loving Jenny Handley, here with her lovely husband Ted who have been regular guests here over the years. Jenny beat the previous Common Carp record by 1lb taking it to 50lb on the nose.
We are looking forward to greeting guests, old and new in 2026, and maybe doing a few new wine bottles to boot. Let’s hope it’s a good one!
All the best!

JENNY DOES IT AGAIN!, 19th Apr
We were greatly looking forward to seeing returning guests, Jenny and Ted Handley, but were worried they weren't going to have the best of weeks when the weather took a turn for the worst. We shouldn't have worried though…..
Throughout the week they banked a bundle of commons from mid 20's to 50lbs, along with a 26lb Grassy, all caught during the daytime. Ted alone managed to break two PB’s with a common of 49lb and a 59lb catfish.
Jenny has held many lake records here over the years and the 50lb PB fish actually broke the Ladies Lake Record Common Carp, earning Jenny another celebratory bottle of wine to add to her collection!
For the record Jenny Handley, highly trained volunteer at Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue, from Burnley, Lancashire, takes the Ladies Lake Record Common Carp at 50lb on the nose on Thursday 17th April 2025 at 14:30, trapping the beast on three maize topped with a piece of plastic sweetcorn on the hair over broken boilies as background bait.
Well done Jenny!

FAREWELL 2024! BONJOUR 2025!, 1st Jan
BONJOUR! Hope everyone has been enjoying the Festive Season and are looking forward to a great 2025!
What a year! 40 guests over 14 weeks, with so many cracking fish landed (and lost,) and PB’s broken left right and just off the Gorse Bank over on the far side :D
Only one Lake Record was broken this year. The Big Cat was finally banked at 99lbs and 2ms in length by Adrian Cengheri in June, but unfortunately it wasn’t officially verified. The boys still celebrated none the less.
This year’s winter feeding regime should get the fish piling on the pounds for next seasons guests so hopefully we’ll get to hand out some customary bottles of wine.
Battles with global warming continue but we have managed to weather it. In stark contrast to 2022’s unrelenting sunshine, soaring temperatures and no rain for weeks, 2024 saw torrential rain and storms with many lakes closing due to flooding. Being spring fed and having adequate flow through meant we were fortunately unaffected.
We are looking forward to greeting guests, old and new, in 2025, whilst also wondering what Mother Nature has in store for us, but we will continue to take each day is it comes.
Have a good one everyone!
