Cabin Now Moored in Stump Lagoon!, 26th May
The Floating Cabin was built on the closest side of Lake William (Blackberry Walk) due to the ease of access with building materials but the plan has always been to moor it a little way off the bank in Stump Lagoon. The windows and solar panel were all positioned for optimal use when the cabin was parked up in this aspect.
Last week I was able to get stuck into the mooring construction and after a couple of days of work we were ready to move the Cabin across the lake to its permanent position, all we needed was a day when the wind was blowing in the right direction to help us get it there. Luckily we only had a two day wait for this!
All I need to do now is fit the chain hand rail and get the grass to grow back on the bank where it was cleared of bramble and trees to build the mooring.

Men’s Lake Record Common Hits 40lb!, 13th May
Civil Engineer Nigel Howell, here for the week with son Alistair and buddies Nick and James, managed to pop the Gents Common Carp Record with a gorgeous 40lber! We’ve been monitoring the progress of some of our big Commons for a while and have been waiting in anticipation of the day one of them breached the 40lb barrier, so we’re thrilled to bits to see Nigel with his new PB!
Nigel from Alderwick, just outside Bognor, reeled the record breaking Common in from the Gorse Bank on a Quest Baits Rahja Spice Boilie topped with a piece of fake sweetcorn on Monday 12th May at 05:27.
Nice work Nigel!

Record Number of Fish Banked in a Week!!!, 5th May
Adam and Stuart Sullivan had a phenomenal week of Specimen Carp fishing here last week at La Gléhias. They had a staggering total of 72 takes, of which they landed 57 fish with a colossal combined weight of 1288lb!!
Having arrived Saturday afternoon, the first 24 hours started out a little slow. They weren’t too worried as they were hoping for a quiet first night to catch up on some sleep. However, by Monday morning the runs were coming thick and fast and by that evening they had already put 28 Carp in the net!
Tuesday was a bit of a joke really as both anglers were pretty much unable to get more than 1 rod out each nearly all day. No sooner had a second rod been boated out then the first would then tear off!
The manic fishing continued until Thursday when we suspect a big batch of Cats came on the feed as Stuart was snapped off three times in one hour that afternoon. By the evening, the Carp decided to give the anglers a bit of a break and slowed up feeding.
At the start of the week, both Adam and Stuart were determined to fish every night here but by Thursday Stuart took the soft option and stayed up at the farmhouse to catch up on some sleep, and by Friday they both chose to sleep in proper beds away from the buzzers!
The catches included;
8 Carp 30lb+, 32 Carp 20lb+, 9 Doubles, 4 Singles,
3 Grass Carp,
1 Catfish
Every time I visited the lake there was either a fish being played in, being photographed or being put back, and on a couple of occasions there was a brace on the bank!
Well done lads, what can we say…..Incredible!!!!
P.S. Happy Birthday Adam! :)

Floating Cabin Finished!, 12th Apr
After a total of 40 long days’ work in weekends and many evenings over the winter period, our ambitious Floating Cabin project was finally finished just in time for the start of our open season.
All powered with gas and solar panel, it is fitted out with an oven, hob and grill, fridge, sink with hot and cold water, a toilet and a double sofa-bed. It is now possible to spend a lot more time on the lakes in a bit more comfort.
However, there is still one more thing to do; we need to get the Cabin punted across Lake William over to its permanent position in Stump Lagoon, but we need to get the jetty and a place to moor it sorted first!
I might allow myself a few weekends off before I start this to catch up on a bit of other maintenance and rest!!
